Coatepec, from Veracruz Mexico

Mexco map
Map of Mexico

In 2012 Mexico will produce nearly four Million bags of pure Arabica coffee. With about 650,000 Hectares in production and 450,000 producers, there is an average of 1.5 Hectares per producer. Most are small landholders, lots of indigenous producers in Oaxaca and San Cristobal and some large estates in Chiapas. The varieties are mostly traditional strains like Bourbon, Catura with some Mundo Nuovo and a Mexican creation called Garnica.

The growers live high up in the sacred mountains of the Aztecs and each time the brokers we use visit they are grateful to share the company of such hardworking, kind, individuals. Enthusiasm for coffee and bettering their quality and growing their business is inspiring. Many growers work with the cupping profiles they’ve identified among the various zones in which they’re producers work. Extensive quality, quantity, and growth reports are used to increase the quality each year.

When we work with communities like this we are always reminded to show respect to the familys that grow this coffee. We show respect by taking evey care when roasting and distributing coffee. If we make coffee we love then we think those drinking it will love it so much they will share it.

Details of the coffee:
