We sourced Nicaraguan Divina Providencia from Caravela.
Nicaragua
Putting its tumultuous history behind it, todays Nicaraguan coffee industry has embraced traceability and higher quality coffee.
A number of cultivars grown well in this Central American country that has the Gulf of Mexico on the one side of it and the Pacific on the other. The country is well known for its varied terrain of lakes, volcanoes and beaches. The largest late is Lake Managua, which like the iconic stratovolcano Momotombo sit north of the capital Managua. Add to that Granada in the South which is noted for its Spanish colonial architecture and an archipelago of navigable islets rich in tropical bird life.
Caravela in Nicaragua
Building on their success in their original country Caravela have been setting their systems and programs in Nicaragua too. Most notably their successful PECA program (read more here…) which works with the local next generation to ensure that quality is fostered and rewarded.
Quaffee first offered a coffee Caravela sourced in 2014, which was a blend from the two Dipilto brothers. This is our first time we have offered coffee from Caravela again from this region of the world.
Finca Divina Providencia
Since Miseal bought a small piece of land from his half brothers in 1995, he has been a dedicated coffee farmer. With the passing of years, Misael has dramatically improved the quality of his coffee through careful strategy and farm improvements. With the help of his family and his team, and with hard work and determination, his business has grown significantly. The name Divina Providencia translates as Divine Providence, a name inspired by the abundance of wild flora and fauna found on the farm. As well as admiring many types of trees and vegetation, you can see squirrels and wide variety of birdlife.
