Timemore Black Mirror Dot Smart Scale

Timemore

Timemore is a Chinese coffee equipment manufacturer founded in 2012 by a group of coffee enthusiasts keen to create brewing tools that combined good design with practical performance. Over the past decade, the company has become well known in the speciality coffee segment for its hand grinders, kettles, scales and manual brewing accessories.

Rather than focusing on commercial café equipment, Timemore has built its reputation on products aimed at home brewers and travelling coffee enthusiasts. Its equipment is particularly recognised for thoughtful design, consistent performance and strong value when compared with more expensive alternatives.

Black Mirror Dot Scale

The Timemore Black Mirror Dot takes a different approach to coffee scales. Instead of including a built-in display, it connects to the TIMEMORE mobile app via Bluetooth and uses your smartphone as the display and control centre.

The result is an exceptionally small and lightweight scale with a footprint of just 80mm x 80mm. Because the scale does not need a screen, Timemore was able to reduce its size to something that can easily fit into a travel kit, coffee bag or even a small accessory pouch.

The Dot provides 0.1g accuracy across a measuring range of 0.2g to 1200g, making it suitable for both espresso and pour-over brewing. Through the app, users can monitor weight, brewing time and flow rate in real time. Brewing sessions can also be saved for future reference.

It is important to note that the Black Mirror Dot has no built-in display. A mobile phone running the TIMEMORE app is required to view brewing data, weight readings and timers. This design choice keeps the scale remarkably compact while still providing the information needed for accurate brewing.

Smart Scale

A smart scale is a coffee scale that uses digital connectivity to provide brewing information beyond simple weight measurements.

Unlike traditional coffee scales that display weight on the unit itself, a smart scale can connect to a smartphone application to provide additional information such as timers, flow rate tracking, brew records and recipe management.

The Timemore Black Mirror Dot is a screen-free smart scale. By shifting the display and data processing to a smartphone, it maintains an extremely small physical footprint while still offering the functionality expected from a modern coffee brewing scale.

This approach is particularly useful for travellers, espresso users with limited space, and coffee enthusiasts who want to record and compare brewing data over time.
